I believe this scent thing to be true. Although I have been attracted to a couple of guys whos scent I wasn't attacted to and I'm not even really sure why. Circumstances at the time I suppose. I think that today most of us use body soaps and shampoos, lotions, colognes, perfumes, hair sprays and so on....which cover our real scent. Therefore our noses are confused and maybe so are our brains. Maybe this could actually be one of the reasons for so many failed relationships. That's how much I believe in the human scent theory. It works in animals to this day.

John, you never saw a girl who you thought was attractive from afar but then once you got closer (sometimes really closer), something was "off"? Often you come up with some explanation for it (if it's not perceived as a bad smell) when really, your immune system is saying "yeah, we wouldn't have healthy babies, move along". It's not like your immune system comes out and says that to you consciously, the impression you would get would be something negative and also primitive (like a bad smell).

This is exactly the area of research I want to look into for my degree project. Unfortunately, there's a lack of people that specialise in this sort of thing at my Uni.

Orgasms lead to the release of oxytocin and vasopressin in the brain which in turn leads to monogamy. I think it's better described in this article here - http://www.oxytocin.org/oxytoc/love-science.html

I also read a really interesting paper a while back showing the science behind the attractiveness of a sense of humour. I'll need to try and find it again, if I do, I'll leave a link here.
